Good or Bad Publicity – both work

I don’t think this post needs much explanation.  If you have an account on Twitter or haven’t been hiding under a rock like on the Geico commercials you’ve seen the story behind Representative Weiner.

This is BAD publicity.  No ifs, ands or buts about it.  Had I ever heard of Representative Weiner before this scandal?  No.  Does about a ga-zillion other people know who he is now?  Yes.

Any publicity is good publicity - kind of

So, now should you go create a scandal to gain some followers?  Absolutely, NOT!  But, if you fail and chances are you will, use the new attention to gain and keep your new audience.  Turn the bad into a good.  Admit your screw up and push forward.
