Sharing versus Shouting

Social media is a really awesome tool for sharing.  The reason why most people fail in promoting their product or message is because they haven’t learned the “art of sharing.”  Most people shout.  They think they are sharing but really what they are doing is shouting, “buy my product” or “go to my website.”  It comes across like this “ME, ME, ME”.  Remember that kid from elementary school?  Don’t be him.

Try something different today.

Instead of talking about yourself all day, just listen.  No tweets about your product or service.  Just listen.  Share a link to a helpful article or resource you found.  Praise someone for doing a great job.  Be a friend.  When you share you are giving something unconditionally; expecting nothing in return.  You do it because you want to grow as a person.  People that share are very attractive!
